Shree Tryambakeshwar Devasthan, Badlapur

Shree Trambakeshwar Temple as the name suggest it is dedicated to Lord Shiva and houses an 350 to 400 year old lingam. It is located in Badlapur (Dist Thane). It was built on the bank of lake with a well built in rocks. Old Mandir (which does not exist anymore) was constructed using timber. Walls of the temples were made up of bricks joined with the help of mud. There are statues of Surya (Lord Sun), Lord Kalbhairav,a Goddess, Lord Viththal-Rakhumai and the Shri Ganesha. As like any other Shiva temple, Nandi (bull) is placed exactly in front of Shivalingam.

It seems that the temple has undergone redevelopment several times. Except the deity Shiva, Nandi and Lord Kalbhairav, all other deities were in changed in the year 1975. Statue of Lord Ganesha was installed by Late Shri. Bhau Paranjape, statue of Lord Surya and Goddess were installed by Late. Shri Ramakant Oak and Statues of Lord Viththal-Rakhumai were installed by Late. Shri. Padmakar Oak. A nearby Lord Hanuman temple was also redeveloped in year 1955.

Festivals like Tripuri Pournima, Gokulashtami are celebrated here. Mahashivaratri Festival is celebrated by performing a daily kirtan. Almost 70 years ago, there was a tradition that Haridasi Kirtan Performer used to stay in the village for all 7 days of festival. The tradition was later changed to Varakari Style of Kirtan. Shri. Sadguru Wamanrao Pai, Shri. Arun Bhave, Shri. Mamasaheb dandekar, Shri Sohoni, Shri Bhatkhande, Shri Padmakar Lele are few big names to be named who have performed in this Festival. Shri Madhusudan Datar performed a Kirtan every year for 55 years in this temple.

By inharitence, Oak family of elder branch of Kolathere-Badlapur is managing regural activities of this temple. In 1952, the trust was registered. Then trustees were Late. Shri. Padmakar Oak, late. Shri. Diwakar Oak and Late Shri Narayan Oak. Now this temple and trust is managed by trustee Shri. Bhaskar (Nitin) Oak and Shri. Prasad Oak. The temple is under the process of redevelopment. Once completed, the temple will have 1500 sq.ft. hall well floored with green marble. The dome of new temple is decorated by placing statues of 15 Varakari Saints along with Shri Rishi Vasishta.
