Shri. Trimbakeshwar Devasthan, Badlapur

Shri Tryambakeshwar Temple is a Shiva temple that is approximately 350 to 400 years old. This temple is located near a pond in the village of Bhaldapur (Thane district). Right next to the temple, there is a stone-built well. In the construction of the old temple (which no longer exists), wood was used. Its walls were built using bricks and mud.  

In this temple, there are idols of Shri Ganesh, Surya Dev, Kaal Bhairav, Vitthal Rukmini, and Goddess Aadi. In front of the Shiva Linga, there is the usual Nandi statue as commonly found.  

It seems that this temple has undergone renovations multiple times. Except for the statues of Shiva Linga, Nandi, and Kaal Bhairav, all other idols were replaced in 1975. Shri Bhau Paranjpe installed the statue of Shri Ganesh, while the idol of the Goddess was installed by Shri Ramakant Oak. Shri Padmakar Oak installed the idols of Vitthal Rukmini. Similarly, in 1955, the nearby Hanuman temple was also renovated.

Various annual festivals like Tripuri Purnima and Gokulashtami are celebrated here. During Mahashivratri, there is a week-long kirtan festival. About 70 years ago, Hardasi kirtans used to happen here in the same way, with kirtankars staying in the village for all seven days. Later, Warkari kirtans started taking place here. Legendary figures like Shri Sadguru Vamanrao Pai, Shri Arun Bhave, Shri Mamasahib Dandekar, Shri Sohoni, and Shri Bhathkhande have performed kirtans here. Shri Madhusudan Datar has been performing kirtans here every year for the past 55 years.

According to tradition, the responsibility of managing this temple lies with the Kolathare Bdalapur - Thorli Patti. The trust was established in 1952. The then trustees included the late Shri Padmakar Oak, the late Shri Divakar Oak, and the late Shri Narayan Oak. After them, Shri Bhaskar (Nitin) Oak and Shri Prasad Oak have been handling the affairs. Currently, the temple is undergoing renovation. After renovation, the temple will have a hall of around 1,500 sq. ft. On the temple's spire, along with idols of various saints from the Warkari tradition, an idol of Shri Vasisth Rishi has also been installed.
